Here is what went on this week!!

This week our students have been working extremely hard! We are beginning a new math unit on fractions. The students are a little bit intimidated by the new concept, but I am condfident they will do very well. I have a lot of hands on activities planned that will help them understand and grow confident in working with fractions! We will be making our very own fraction pizzas that we will be using everyday. The students will also make an extra pizza to take home with them, parents please work on these with your students!

The students have all been working on telling time as well. I am very happy to say that their time telling skills are increasing at a fantastic rate! Please remember to expose your child to clocks and telling time regularly at home. Ask them for the time, they will love to show off! I also want to remind you that our first field trip is only a month away! We will be going to the OKC Zoo on October 27. We will leave school at 9:00 am and return at 1:00 pm. We must have the permission slips signed by October 24. I will continue to post udpates and send reminders in the mail. We also need still need parent volunteers, your time would be greatly appreciated!

We also started reading two new books this week. Junie B. Jones and Fly Guy. The students are writing journal entries after reading each day. After the books have been read the students will choose their favorite journal entries, rewrite them, decorate them and then we will display them proudly throughout the room for Parent Teacher Conferences! They are in a few weeks as well and you will be receiving emails and letters to notify you of the time and date!

As you can see, we have been very busy this week! Its been a very productive one and your children are incredible little people! They are working hard, and I can't wait for our next week! As always do not hesitate to contact me for any reason!
